ATHENIANVOICE – the democratic, liberation struggle – and the ‘basic democratic principles’ that every oligarch and tyrant fear

Boxer_of_quirinalAAAMM

(this text is also the first part of the introduction to my site)

ATHENIANVOICE is one Athenian voice, which means a voice that have its cultural and traditional roots in modern Athens and its intellectual, philosophical and spiritual “footrest”, in the fundamental classic Athenian democratic values and principles.  In particular those principles that are “comfortably forgotten” by everyone, ever since. Namely its:

  • principle of, citizens rights to anarchic resistance, disobedience and organization of non-cooperative solidarity-actions against cruel monarchy, oligarchy, dictatorship and tyranny
  • principle of, immediate recall of an elected official if his actions are against the public good and against his obligations to the people
  • principle of, personal accountability before the supreme court for all elected officials when suspected for illegal, negligent or endangering handling of public affairs and the finances of the republic – also retroactively, if suspected of corruption, theft or treason, or even the intent of such activities

There are a number of such basic democratic principles that are universally ignored today, by all “democratic governments”. Principles, that we know was considered so fundamental in ancient democratic Athens, that they had to be expressed as practiced citizens rights before all the others. Those mentioned here and many more were meant to work as security locks of democracy itself in order to avoid corruption, infiltration and oligarchy.

Without disgracing my ancestors’, my people’s and my family’s struggles and sacrifices and my own dignity and self-respect, I can’t accept any of the plutocratic, oligarchic republics as actual democracies. Simply because they aren’t and have never been.

Democracy is either benefiting the whole people’s basic needs and rights and its common good, or it is not a democracy at all. Today everyone mistake the “practice of voting”, just one and very limited practical democratic tool, to be the entirety of democracy itself.

I am truly sorry that I need to explain to so many self proclaimed  democrats every now and then, that the citizens in ancient Greece did not fight the Persian Wars and the Peloponnesian Wars in order to achieve or defend a shitty one-time-vote every four years. And particularly not for a lame democracy which lack any adequate practical protective mechanisms so that the citizens themselves can defend and protect democracy and justice from corruption, oligarchy and tyranny.

Real democracies are based on citizens, not on governments or elections. All the republics in human history after ancient Athens might have begun on pure actual democratic fundamentals, but none of them stayed in those longer than a few years. Unnecessary  compromises and illegal pressure from the European financial elite and their “leftovers” from the tyrannic periods, lead to very wide and unnecessary gaps between written constitutions and relevant practicalities and mechanisms in order to execute the content of such constitutionsAnd actually, that’s the only time where the title, elected official, have any real meaning. When he ensures that the voted democratic constitution is followed by practiced principles and the citizen’s vote makes sense.

In a citizens voted democratic constitution (the only constitution that actually can be called democratic) the citizen is the only constituent, thus the employer of the elected official and therefore the only one that can elect or recall him. If we cant make even that work in our modern and allegedly developed societies, then we must accept that we can’t even re-achieve what the ancient Athenians had achieved. That is also why we seem to move back towards the times of self announced demigods and god-kings with serfs and slaves.

I don’t mean in any way that the ancient Athenian democracy, in its ancient form, is the answer to all our problems today. Of course not. It would need renewal and development according to modern conditions and it would also need to be restarted, but this time with all its original basic values and principles intact and practiced and not crippled and ignored. In essence, none of the attempts for democracy in history so far has managed to actually further develop it from its classic Athenian fundamentals, to something better. Instead, those who should have protected it ended up limiting and crippling it to the point where it can’t really be called a democracy at all anymore.

My cultural, ideological roots are in the original class-struggles and workers solidarity movements in the west and the resistance and liberation struggles against fascism and nazism in Greece, in which several very close family members of mine actively participated in. After the obvious neo-liberalization of the European “left” in the mid-80’s and its submissive compromises and its surrender of its basic values and principles in the 90’s, I found serious reasons to support the pure laocratic form of democracy [Gr. laos, λαός = the people]. The direct form, through self-governance and the satisfaction of the common and real needs. This is how a people who wants to be free either establishes or reestablishes real democracy.

Laocracy, is the “midwife” of the classic democratic principles:

  • that the Greek people has claimed since The Battle of Salamis, and always practiced in its own communities, allover the world
  • that the Greek resistance fighters in EAM/ELAS and the vast majority of the people reached for (and practiced in the EAM-controlled city parts, islands and mountain regions during 1940 – 1944)

The bitter truth is that the most poisonous WWII-remnant, the left – right dogma, has divided us as fellow citizens and made us  competitors and antagonists in a social-economic game that never benefit the citizen, as an entity.

Such division-doctrines should be long gone in a developed, modern, critical mind. It is a divide & conquer pill that works extremely good as the main filter against rational observations and it makes us very, very vulnerable to manipulation and aggression. The dogmatic theologies of the religions are other extremely effective main filters against reason. We have all been deeply manipulated in our minds to raise intellectual walls and in particular emotional walls between the so called left and the so called rightThis way, a people becomes practically defenseless against further division, provocations, civil wars and invasion wars.

I and a growing number of Greeks, prefer to see the citizens, the party-members and the elected officials in the alleged democracies,  as either “real democrats” or “oligarchy-servants”. Which oligarchy they serve is not always determined by the color of a pin on the lapel or a political party’s flag. Their very own ways, motives, aims and personal desires, determine that, and of course who or what really benefits from their words, signatures and actions. In our days both these types exists in all political parties and the “oligarchy-servants” are the ones dominating the scene the higher up you go in the political party hierarchies, at least from WWI and on.

I am not saying that we should abandon our different values, beliefs, ideologies and life philosophies or not hold them dear. I am just saying that we must first save the actual place, about which we then could agree or disagree on how to handle and govern. That is the right order of priorities to any real democrat, because he understands what a free human is and that there is no such thing as a free human without a free, democratic nation-state from which you can defend or claim freedom. Athenians in ancient times understood that. The French just before and during the first few years of the revolution understood that and so did the Americans just a few years around their revolution. The Republicans  in The Spanish Civil War understood that. EAM the massive Greek resistance during WWII understood that and so did those who opposed and resisted the cruel dictatorships in Greece, Spain, Latin-America and Southeast Asia in the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The Vietnamese FNL understood that and any people who have felt and seen the ultimate weakness and vulnerability of the oppressor when he is confronted by a united, determined people, understands that.

I felt obliged to clarify this here, given the big span of mental abilities and ‘moods’, this site is confronting in social medias and forums. I therefore clarify its name, views, values and ‘look’ here, hoping it will serve as a good introduction for this site in general.

Tsipras interprets the Peoples NO as a NYES

image

Svenska

Strange that the educated and well articulate journalists have such difficulties to interpret a word of only three letters. The tens of thousands of banners and posters all over Greece as well as the approximately 4 million Greeks slogans on streets and squares in recent days, were not clear enough, says both the news parrots and their own government.

The panic among news readers, commentators and assorted “experts” in the Greek TV channels, was complete last night. So much drivel and hair-raising theories about how to interpret this NO. Most of them managed to twist it to that “NO meant “NO to a break with the EU”. And then the Swedish lawmakers on sex crimes claim that NO always is a NO. What about the rape case of Greece?

The interpretations, over the whole range, of course was that NO actually means yes and that no one in Greece really wants to leave the euro and the EU. Despite the fact that people across the country have spoken of “NO to the occupation”, which is how we all see the Eurogroup’s and in particular the German government’s role in Greece. These parrots need to broaden the horizons a little bit and stop drinking their coffee only in the highly polished in-cafés, where both staff and guests poses with the ridiculously bleached jaws and the ridiculously unnatural smiles.

Then came the real “turn off”, Tsipras own “victory speech”, in which he assured that he does not take the Greeks vote as if he had been commissioned to break with Europe, but to negotiate better terms for the “cooperation”. Firstly, you never call a choke leash “cooperation”, and secondly, we want him to throw off his choke leash and begin to actually lay the issues of the legitimacy of the debt and the agreements legitimacy on the table, and with the support in international law and even on the advice from the UN’s own human rights adviser, to refuse to pay the creditors and announce that Greece will not pay the debt and declare the debt and the loan agreement illegal.

Let the international courts deal with the matter and in the meantime Greece will not pay a single euro of the legally challenged debt. Why this would pose any problem to the Greeks, no sensible person who manages to count has really understood, despite all the doomsday propaganda in the media? If the Greeks do not pay usury-debt and therefore do not need to take new loans to pay back the last five years forced, unfair loans, there is enough money for salaries, pensions, healthcare, education, infrastructure, social and health insurances and necessities for the people.

That is in any case, what a Prime Minister and a government that works for its people and not for the banks and businessmen would do.

If someone, with such “wind in the sails” and with the main international legal bodies advice to refuse to pay, still doesn’t interpret a NO as a “NO to this sort of Europe”, one clearly have different allegiances than what one show. So his own interpretation was thus NYES. His victory speech sounded as if it was YES the people said. Didn’t he read the banners and didn’t he hear the slogans, or didn’t he see the graffiti across Athens that said “NO” and “RAUS”? Didn’t his party members pass the people’s “don’t you dare” message to any further negotiations with EU/ECB, on the people’s sacrifices, on the illegal debt and its inhumane choke leash called “loan agreement”? “Even if this would mean to leave the euro and a break with the EU,” was the clear message that echoed throughout Greece to the government on Sunday.

What this referendum has done and that actually is of great value, is that it caused a climate of panic where all masks has finally fallen and they have revealed themselves and their real purposes to the people. Today we clearly see what real loyalties each and every one has and whose interests they are working for. The political leadership, the news channels, the terrorized YES voters, the pretending democrats and the pretending left has been unmasked. Those who have maintained and lived on the corruption and the nepotism which overturned Greece now stands “nude” and with “their hand up to the elbow in the cookie jar.”

This can force Tsipras to new elections and a wider coalition or a new technocrat government type Papademo’s government. In the worst case, a military dictatorship to put the Greeks in the “plaster cradle” again as that psychopath-colonel, dictator and CIA agent Papadopoulos put it, in April 21, 1967. It will be very interesting to see how the vast majority of SYRIZA will react to Tsipras, to say the least, treacherous NO interpretation. It is doubtful whether he can handle this to the end of the month, to not say the end of the week, as he again reappears to the negotiations in political “shorts” to communicate the Greek people’s position to the Brussels and Berlin commandants.

I sure hope they refueled the helicopters!

Reparations for WWII Atrocities – the Background (including the German satiric show exposing viral facts behind Greek reparation claim)

A VIRAL VIDEO BY A GERMAN SATIRE SHOW (DIE ANSTALT) EDUCATES PEOPLE ABOUT THE REAL BACKGROUND AND THE TRUE SITUATION OF THE GREEK REPARATIONS CLAIM.

_________________________________________________________

April 12, 2015

Last week, many Germans came to an ugly realization. People had been so proud of how Germany dealt with the aftermath of WWII, the earnest self-questioning and rejection of nationalism, the many apologies. Now, many have been forced to realize that Germany has done too little in the way that matters most: compensating the surviving victims.

There have periodically been earnest newspaper articles and editorials on the subject of course, but most left it at “Germany paid in 1960” and “Greece is now inventing debt to save their economy”. However, last week a German satire TV show took it upon themselves to educate people about all that the German governments did to avoid supporting the victims of the Nazis and blocking prosecution of the war criminals. The key passage of that satire show was posted online even before it aired on TV, it went viral and more than 2 million Germans and 1 million Greeks have seen it so far. [Athenianvoice’s comment: After the Greek comedian Lakis Lazopoulos aired parts of it in his popular show “Al Tsantiri News”, over 4 million Greeks inside and outside Greece have seen it.]

It cuts deep; many foreign commenters expressed astonishment that this was shown on a major German public TV channel. (That Germans produced this show, applauded/’liked’ and made it go viral is the only thought comforting me.)I have added English subtitles for you:

(If you don’t see subtitles, experiment with the buttons on the bottom right. If subtitles are visible but not readable, use the B, W, + and – keys on your keyboard)

Watch the video now. Below, I’ll recap how Germans were led to believe that they had done the honourable thing.

The History of Reparations

The Allies agreed in 1945, at the Yalta Conference and also in the Potsdam Agreement, that Germany would have to pay reparations to the victors for the damages caused in WWII.

Initially, this was very chaotic: the Soviet Union granted Poland a large chunk of German territory and the Red Army dismantled everything they could in their occupied zone, entire factories, almost every railway track. The Western Allies did similarly – especially the Brits and French plundered the industries while Americans were more interested in patents and foreign moneys of German companies. Additionally, German POWs were not released at the end of the war but used as slave labour for several years.

This way of taking reparations put those countries at a disadvantage who had been victims of the Nazis but did not have an occupied zone in Germany from which to take their compensation. So in 1946, the Paris reparations agreement created the Inter-Allied Reparations Agency (IARA) in order to calculate the sum of reparations and their fair distribution. However, this proved very difficult, for example Guatemala demanded 85 million dollars even though it hadn’t seen any war action. All in all, the IARA received demands for 1260 billion deutschmarks, that is 16 times the German GDP of the time. Only a big peace conference could possibly sort out all demands – but East and West were already entering the Cold War, so this conference never happened.

Germany’s European Allies, including Italy, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Finland, signed peace treaties in 1947 and paid reparations. The reparations were significantly reduced from what was initially demanded – for example only 360 million dollars instead of 32 billion dollars from Italy. Greece received 105 million dollars from Italy and 45 million dollars from Bulgaria, only Germany didn’t pay anything because there was no peace treaty yet.

1950 to 1990

Because of the Cold War, neither the USA nor the Soviet Union were interested in their economically-ruined German puppet states having to pay huge amounts of reparations to other countries. They probably also remembered the consequences of the crushing Versailles Treaty. Because of this, the 1953 London Debt Agreement postponed all reparations until “united Germany” would sign a peace treaty – knowing that such a day was more than unlikely. Additionally, the Western powers, including Greece, accepted a haircut of 50% on German pre-war and post-war debt, not including war debt. At the same time, the Soviet Union abated Germany’s entire reparation debt and forced their puppet government in Poland to do the same – which the Poles now say is not valid because it wasn’t the act of a sovereign government.

With West Germany becoming an economic strong-house in the 1960s, Western European states no longer wanted to wait for an unlikely-looking reunification in order to get their compensation. West Germany signed individual agreements with 12 nations, including France, Britain, Austria and Greece. These agreements were not agreements about reparations though, they only concerned voluntary compensations for individual groups of victims. The agreement with Greece brought 115 million Deutschmark for Greek victims of the Nazi racist ideology, that is Holocaust victims but not the thousands of victims of massacres or 300,000 victims of deliberately-induced famine.

Reunification

By 1989, nobody was expecting the reunification and subsequent peace treaty anymore. In order to have a legal defense against having to pay reparations (Poland alone was demanding 200-537 billion deutschmarks), the German government insisted on not calling the Two Plus Four Treaty a peace treaty, even though that’s what it was. They didn’t even deny that that’s the reason they didn’t want it to be called a peace treaty.

France, Britain, the USA and the Soviet Union were fine with that – they had taken a lot of reparations from the occupied zones already, didn’t particularly want a lot of money to flow into the unstable Eastern European countries and the Soviet Union additionally received large concessions in exchange for not calling it a peace treaty and not allowing Poland a seat at the table. So there are doubts whether the Two Plus Four Treaty will stand up to judicial scrutiny, given that it was a treaty at the expense of third parties in their absence. (The German government argues that since countries like Greece later ‘acknowledged’ the treaty and didn’t sue against it, they thereby consented to drop their claims for reparations. Reparations were conspicuously not mentioned in the treaty.)

Greek Demands

Greece originally claimed 7.2 billion dollars at the value of 1938 dollars from the IARA and then agreed to postpone them in the London Debt Agreement. Since then, there have been regular requests for Germany to pay its debts, so contrary to how it is presented in the media, this is not something the new Greek government made up on the spot.

This doesn’t mean that their current demand of 279 billion euros is necessarily justified – for example, part of that is to compensate for the ruined economy after the occupation, a difficult claim as the Hague Conventions only require compensations for violations of international humanitarian law, not for all damages of war.

It’s debatable whether Germany should pay the IARA reparations now, but at the very least Germany should stop self-righteously pointing its finger at Greeceand shouting “Rules are rules. Debts must be paid. No tricks!” … The German governments were quite happy to ignore debts and use all tricks in the book.

(The only thing easy to determine is the forced loan that Greek authorities had to give to the Nazis to finance the Wehrmacht’s African campaign. It is quite likely that an international court of justice would insist on it being paid. A loan is a loan, paying it back is not even part of the reparations question. According to the Greek government, that would be 10.3 billion euros in today’s currency.)

Compensation for the Surviving Victims

It is unlikely that an international court of justice could force Germany to pay compensation to massacre survivors like Mr Sfountouris from the video, because a) individuals cannot sue states and b) the 1960 payment of 115 million deutschmarks for victims of Nazi racism does not specify what should be done for victims of non-racist crimes against humanity such as the “revenge” massacres.

There is also the problem that demands have been postponed for so long, some might say they’re beyond the statute of limitations – but this didn’t preventNorway from agreeing to pay reparations to Roma for racist policies and suffering under Nazis just a few days ago.

No matter what the legal standing is, and no matter what kind of snowball effect can be expected from finally starting to paying compensations, it is clear thatGermany has a moral obligation to the victims and it has abominably ignored this obligation for far too long. As a country priding itself on its morality, it is shameful for Germany to use legal loopholes to avoid compensating survivors of the atrocities, even if these loopholes exist.

Remembering Victims of Terror – and Forgetting Some Others

The killings in Paris is not at all the worst terrorattack in Europe since London – It’s just a very convenient excuse for the media to stir up hate towards Muslims… It is very easy for the hating and the scared to fall prey to the hideous rhetoric’s used now by the western media, whose aim is to demonize Muslims in general – Remember that the western intelligence services have orders from their ‘bosses’ to ‘set up the social climate’ through which they want to take away all our rights!…

“…So they don’t have know if the war is going well or bad, they just have to know that they must keep up the ranting and beating of the War Drum to keep the Proles in line, and make sure we are scared enough to turn over all the rights to the ‘inner party’.”  (from THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF OLIGARCHICAL COLLECTIVISM by Emmanuel Goldstein in George Orwell’s ‘1984’)

CBS News: French newspaper killings is worst terrorist attack in Europe since 2005, CIA insider saysFrom the CBS News website, at least seven hours after it had been pointed out that the Charlie Hebdo massacre was not the worst terror attack in Europe since 2005.

Here’s “former CIA deputy director and CBS News senior security consultant”Mike Morell (CBS Morning News, 1/7/15) giving his expert commentary on the Charlie Hebdo massacre:

This is the worst terrorist attack in Europe since the attacks in London in July of 2005. We haven’t lost this many people since that attack.

So apparently Morell doesn’t remember the bloodbath in Norway in July 2011, when Anders Breivik killed eight people by bombing government buildings in Oslo and then murdered 59 others, mostly teenagers, at a youth camp associated with the Labour Party. This was actually a deadlier attack then the London bombings, which killed 56.

Flowers for victims of Anders Breivik

Flowers left outside Oslo’s cathedral to commemorate victims of a massacre less than four years ago that many in US media seem to have already forgotten.

Breivik said he was motivated by opposition to Muslim immigration, citing in his manifesto (Extra!,9/11) Islamophobic blogger Peder Jensen on the need for violence to “demonstrate how serious the situation is, and force other Western nations to ban Muslim immigration and pressure Muslim citizens to assimilate or leave.”

The ability of supposed terrorism experts to forget major attacks is remarkable (Extra!, 3/10). In Morell’s case, it’s not hard to imagine why he forgot Breivik’s killing spree. Describing the attack on the French satirical paper, Morell said:

The motive here is absolutely clear. Trying to shut down a media organization that lampooned the prophet Mohammed. So no doubt in my mind this is terrorism.

Breivik’s motive was certainly not shutting anyone down for lampooning Mohammed. So perhaps, in Morrell’s mind, it doesn’t count as terrorism?

As Ali Gharib pointed out, the New York Times (1/7/15) quoted Morell’s claim about the Charlie Hebdo attack being Europe’s worst since 2005 without contradiction. So apparently no one there remember Breivik, either. (Though the Times‘ website did run an AP piece that included the Norway slaughter among other “terror attacks in Western Europe.”)

“Breivik’s motive was certainly not shutting anyone down for lampooning Mohammed. So perhaps, in Morrell’s mind, it doesn’t count as terrorism?” Well of course that wouldn’t count , it wasn’t a Muslim doing the shooting causing terror, it was a White Male Christian who was terrified of life, so he would be the victim, not the 77 people he murdered (according to the powers that be). I mean how can you expect these people to maintain the Level of Terror, and then use that to remove all rights, if you don’t give the people an enemy to be terrified of.

THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF OLIGARCHICAL COLLECTIVISM
by Emmanuel Goldstein

Chapter III War is Peace
….
The social atmosphere is that of a besieged city, where the possession of a lump of horseflesh makes the difference between wealth and poverty. And at the same time the consciousness of being at war, and therefore in danger, makes the handing-over of all power to a small caste seem the natural, unavoidable condition of survival.
…..
Even the humblest Party member is expected to be competent, industrious, and even intelligent within narrow limits, but it is also necessary that he should be a credulous and ignorant fanatic whose prevailing moods are fear, hatred, adulation, and orgiastic triumph. In other words it is necessary that he should have the mentality appropriate to a state of war. It does not matter whether the war is actually happening, and, since no decisive victory is possible, it does not matter whether the war is going well or badly. All that is needed is that a state of war should exist. The splitting of the intelligence which the Party requires of its members, and which is more easily achieved in an atmosphere of war, is now almost universal, but the higher up the ranks one goes, the more marked it becomes. It is precisely in the Inner Party that war hysteria and hatred of the enemy are strongest. In his capacity as an administrator, it is often necessary for a member of the Inner Party to know that this or that item of war news is untruthful, and he may often be aware that the entire war is spurious and is either not happening or is being waged for purposes quite other than the declared ones: but such knowledge is easily neutralized by the technique of doublethink. Meanwhile no Inner Party member wavers for an instant in his mystical belief that the war is real, and that it is bound to end victoriously, with Oceania the undisputed master of the entire world.

So they don’t have know if the war is going well or bad, they just have to know that they must keep up the ranting and beating of the War Drum to keep the Proles in line, and make sure we are scared enough to turn over all the rights to the ‘inner party’.

Government agents ‘directly involved’ in most high-profile US terror plots

in New York

The Guardian, Monday 21 July 2014 14.30 BST

• Human Rights Watch documents ‘sting’ operations

• Report raises questions about post-9/11 civil rights

Nearly all of the highest-profile domestic terrorism plots in the United States since 9/11 featured the “direct involvement” of government agents or informants, a new report says.

Some of the controversial “sting” operations “were proposed or led by informants”, bordering on entrapment by law enforcement. Yet the courtroom obstacles to proving entrapment are significant, one of the reasons the stings persist.

The lengthy report, released on Monday by Human Rights Watch, raises questions about the US criminal justice system’s ability to respect civil rights and due process in post-9/11 terrorism cases. It portrays a system that features not just the sting operations but secret evidence, anonymous juries, extensive pretrial detentions and convictions significantly removed from actual plots.

“In some cases the FBI may have created terrorists out of law-abiding individuals by suggesting the idea of taking terrorist action or encouraging the target to act,” the report alleges.

Out of the 494 cases related to terrorism the US has tried since 9/11, the plurality of convictions – 18% overall – are not for thwarted plots but for “material support” charges, a broad category expanded further by the 2001 Patriot Act that permits prosecutors to pursue charges with tenuous connections to a terrorist act or group.

In one such incident, the initial basis for a material-support case alleging a man provided “military gear” to al-Qaida turned out to be waterproof socks in his luggage.

Several cases featured years-long solitary confinement for accused terrorists before their trials. Some defendants displayed signs of mental incapacity. Jurors for the 2007 plot to attack the Fort Dix army base, itself influenced by government informants, were anonymous, limiting defense counsel’s ability to screen out bias.

Human Rights Watch’s findings call into question the post-9/11 shift taken by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies toward stopping terrorist plots before they occur. While the vast majority of counterterrorism tactics involved are legally authorized, particularly after Congress and successive administrations relaxed restrictions on law enforcement and intelligence agencies for counterterrorism, they suggest that the government’s zeal to protect Americans has in some cases morphed into manufacturing threats.

The report focuses primarily on 27 cases and accordingly stops short of drawing systemic conclusions. It also finds several trials and convictions for “deliberate attempts at terrorism or terrorism financing” that it does not challenge.

The four high-profile domestic plots it found free of government involvement were the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing; Najibullah Zazi’s 2009 plot to bomb the New York subway; the attempted Times Square carbombing of 2010; and the 2002 shooting at Los Angeles International Airport’s El Al counter.

But the report is a rare attempt at a critical overview of a system often touted by the Obama administration and civil libertarian groups as a rigorous, capable and just alternative to the military tribunals and indefinite detention advocated by conservative critics. It comes as new pressure mounts on a variety of counterterrorism practices, from thecourtroom use of warrantless surveillance to the no-fly list and law enforcement’s “suspicious activity reports” database.

In particular, Human Rights Watch examines the extent and impact of law enforcement’s use of terrorism informants, who can both steer people into attempted acts of violence and chill religious or civic behaviour in the communities they penetrate.

Linda Sarsour, the executive director of the Arab American Association of New York, a social services agency, told the Guardian she almost has a “radar for informants” sent to infiltrate her Brooklyn community.

While the FBI has long relied on confidential informants to alert them to criminal activity, for terrorism cases informants insert themselves into Muslim mosques, businesses and community gatherings and can cajole people toward a plot “who perhaps would never have participated in a terrorist act on their own initiative”, the study found.

Many trade information for cash. The FBI in 2008 estimated it had 15,000 paid informants. About 30% of post-9/11 terrorism cases are considered sting operations in which informants played an “active role” in incubating plots leading to arrest, according to studies cited in the Human Rights Watch report. Among those roles are making comments “that appeared designed to inflame the targets” on “politically sensitive” subjects, and pushing operations forward if a target’s “opinions were deemed sufficiently troubling”.

Entrapment, the subject of much FBI criticism over the years, is difficult to prove in court. The burden is on a defendant to show he or she was not “predisposed” to commit a violent act, even if induced by a government agent. Human Rights Watch observes that standard focuses attention “not on the crime, but on the nature of the subject”, often against a backdrop where “inflammatory stereotypes and highly charged characterizations of Islam and foreigners often prevail”.

Among the informants themselves there is less ambiguity. “It is all about entrapment,” Craig Monteilh, one such former FBI informant tasked with mosque infiltration, told the Guardian in 2012.

Informants, the study found, sometimes overcome their targets’ stated objections to engage in terrorism. A man convicted in 2006 of attempting to bomb the Herald Square subway station in Manhattan told an informant who concocted the plot he would have to check with his mother and was uncomfortable planting the bombs himself. One member of the “Newburgh Four” plot to attack synagogues and military planes – whose case is the subject of an HBO documentary airing on Monday – told his informant “maybe my mission hasn’t come yet”.

Once in court, terrorism cases receive evidentiary and pre-trial leeway rarely afforded to non-terrorism cases. A federal judge in Virginia permitted into evidence statements made by a defendant while in a Saudi jail in which the defendant, Amed Omar Abu Ali, alleged torture, a longstanding practice in Saudi Arabia. The evidence formed the basis for a conviction, and eventually a life sentence, for conspiracy to assassinate George W Bush. Mohammed Warsame, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, was held in solitary confinement for five years before his trial.

Another implication of the law-enforcement tactics cited the report is a deepening alienation of American Muslims from a government that publicly insists it needs their support to head off extremism but secretly deploys informants to infiltrate mosques and community centers.

“The best way to prevent violent extremism inspired by violent jihadists is to work with the Muslim American community – which has consistently rejected terrorism – to identify signs of radicalization and partner with law enforcement when an individual is drifting towards violence. And these partnerships can only work when we recognize that Muslims are a fundamental part of the American family,” Obama said in a high-profile 2013 speech.

Yet the Obama administration has needed to purge Islamophobic training materials from FBI counterterrorism, which sparked deep suspicion in US Muslim communities. It is now conducting a review of similar material in the intelligence community after a document leaked by Edward Snowden used the slur “Mohammed Raghead” as a placeholder for Muslims.

Why don’t International Justice call for the arrests of the ‘tops’?

”Peace will not come to Athens (Mankind) until those who are not injured becomes as outraged as those who are injured”

“The nation that will insist on drawing a broad line of demarcation between the fighting man and the thinking man is liable to find its fighting done by fools and its thinking done by cowards.”

Thucydides

The two quotations above gives two very crucial, fundamental warnings, that are absolutely essential to take into account when trying to uphold a true Democracy. They are extracted from speeches on the Peloponnesian Wars by the fifth century BC Athenian, historian, philosopher and general, Thucydides.

The first points at the fatal danger of neglecting people who suffer under oppression and tyranny, and the second points out the crucial importance of a police and an army formed by the citizens themselves for the defense of democracy, the citizens and the good of all (instead of a professional police and army who will always be inclined to serve the elite).

Exactly the neglect of human suffering and the professional police forces and armies (that are directed by private interests) are currently provoking a toxic socio-political climate, in which democracy is receiving blow after blow from those who really benefit by its destruction. Justice is sadly to a dangerously high degree in the hands of the same. The Hydra of the biggest banking families and their subservient beneficiaries have come to own most major businesses over the two centuries during which they have secretly and increasingly organised themselves as controllers of governments worldwide and as arbiters of war and peace.

Unless we understand this we will be unable to understand the real reasons for the two world wars and the impending third world war, a war that is almost certain to begin as a consequence of the US attempt to seize and control Central Asia. The only way out is for the US to back off – something the people of the US and the world want, but the elite does not.

International Justice must be ‘forced’, by the western, united public opinion, to take action against the biggest banking families and their ‘bullies’. The west’s citizens need to produce precise, adequate and comprehensive lawsuits against them in both National and International Court’s. It is mainly the western pseudo-democratic governments that has laid International Justice aside for too long and has failed to actually ever implement real Democracy, due to their obligations to these banking families and their subservient beneficiaries. It is these highly treasonous obligations that has made most citizens in the world very angry and some very vindictive, because these obligations has been proven to mean enforced, neo-colonial treaties and agreements, against the good of their own people and countries.

Standing outside Bilderberg-meetings, parliaments, WTO- and G7-summits shouting slogans, informing them that we know who they are and what they are up to, doesn’t even bring sweat to their foreheads anymore. Why would it? They have the security police, the riot police, the national guard, the paramilitary security companies, the armies (private, national and international), mercenary armies and the loosely or fully allied criminal gangs and militias. The elected ‘politicians’, under the advice of their vulture advisers, also make sure to very quickly and basically unnoticed by the general public, vote through the new legislations that are defending the exaggerated use of repressive forces and excessive violence. They need to ensure that the violence they feel that they have to use against their own citizens becomes, ‘legally valid measures’.  For the public’s safety and to keep order in the society, they claim, while the country’s Constitution Committee and the Supreme Court ‘has gone fishing’! This, despite the fact that it is the public their “robocops” beat, kick, drag, spray with tear gas and water cannons, shoot rubber bullets on, mass arrest, torture and terrorize – and despite the fact that it is the society itself that has been attacked by its bankers and businessmen with their blessing and permission. This is done through undemocratically and unconstitutionally enforced legislations, sure,.. but sadly enough ‘legally valid’ in the eyes of Justice, until the peoples unite and in organised form invalidates these legislations.

As a matter of fact, the most effective form of organisation against Mammon’s tyranny is called DEMOCRACY, but not in its current crippled, blindfolded, mute, finance-dictated, extorted form. Not in its “vote-every-4-years-and-pay-your-taxes-and-leave-the-rest-to-us-because-we-know-better” form. This form is what brought us to this fragile position in the first place. We have to look for solutions in the very foundations of true Democracy, to understand how we can build the ‘defense lines’ against, plutocracy and tyranny with it. Its original form,.. that ancient pre-Roman, Athenian form, is still the only true foundation for a democratic ‘ordering and organisation of the affairs and the concerns of a state and a human society’. It is the only known form that can really provide collective freedom, individual and social self-determination and a consistent self-defense to a whole people or a nation, thus the only one that can really be called Democracy. THAT FORM IS WHAT TODAY’S PREDATORY, FINANCIAL ELITE DREAD MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD. They have encountered it a few times in history, and they didn’t like it at all.

It took them over a century and a lot of conspiracies, secrecy, manipulation and infiltration to really recover since the French slapped them in the face with it. And take into account that, that slap as well as the one the American revolution gave their colonizers, was just cuddles in comparison to what a true and mature Democracy really can do, to these self-proclaimed ‘kings’ and ’emperors’ of mankind. The French and the Americans as well as most others, who has raised a spirit of freedom against tyranny, has not sufficiently implemented the original and most important principles of Democracy, the ones Thucydides warned about. They managed to leave amazingly democratic constitutions to mankind, but failed to also leave the necessary practical safety locks in order to adequately defend its constitutions and its basic democratic principles. The safety locks that among others, Solon, Thucydides and Pericles, in ancient Athens already had identified as absolutely crucial for a true Democracy to be able to protect itself from, and survive, conspiracies of plutocratic, kleptocratic and oligarchic character, in other words tyranny!

In France in the 18th century, the majority of the simple people was illiterate and therefore unaware of the existence of these ancient but still fundamental principles, so they couldn’t demand them from the revolution. This fact enticed even Robespierre himself to become a self proclaimed ‘headmaster’ of the French people and a power-drunk tyrant and his megalomania finally led to the loss of his head,.. literally. In America the revolution had the same problem, plus the fact that those who fought in the War of Independence came from many different backgrounds, culturally and ethnically, so they could be stilled and satisfied with just a few crumbs compared to what a truly informed and united people can achieve.

Today we are in a different situation altogether because today in the west, nearly nobody is illiterate (at least officially), so today we really can demand that all the fundamental principles of democracy shall be restored and protected in a way only the pre-Roman, Greek Democracy, has ever done. The Roman post-Greek form of Democracy on the other hand laid – through a rigid bureaucracy and far too many highly unnecessary and complex laws – the fundamentals for what still pass as Democracy in the world today. Rome, the vulgar, imperialist copycat of the Hellenic culture actually paved the way for plutocratic and kleptocratic conspiracies through the many ‘loop holes’ that Roman law had left open, without any regard of the fundamental Athenian principles and the original central citizens ethos that must be the basics of the Law in a Democracy.

Our worst enemy today, that keep us from uniting, is not illiteracy like in the end of the 18th century, it is the disinformation and the state sanctioned, deceptive propaganda.

To unite doesn’t at all mean that we have to agree on everything, or even that we have to like eachothers political views. It just mean that we have to identify and focus on the real and highly dangerous common threats to all of us and to our house (our individual and social freedom, our country, our natural resources and our constitutions). It means to use reason and logic before passion, to with united forces first eliminate that threat.  Because without our house being truly ours, it’s pretty pointless to argue about how to share it among ourselves, which house rules should be applied, or how we best use its resources.

If we await a simultaneous global uprising, we are not using reason and logic, but just silly and childish hope and that will just allow the Ukraine-effect and the Syria-effect to spread globally. To just hope for something in the current situation, really means that one already has given up and is just expecting help to come from somewhere else or someone else. The “help” that comes from “somewhere else” and from “someone else” is today gladly provided by the banking-families mercenary armies and their death-squads and militias, which are led by NATO. With the Ukraine-effect and the Syria-effect, I mean extremists and bloodthirsty, fanatic butchers who are unleashed by exactly these banking-families, to act as “revolutionaries defending their land”, in order to prevent the actual majority of the country’s population to unite and demand real Democracy. This is what awaits all of us unless all pull up their pants, roll up their sleeves and really unite in an adequate way against the tyrants. It is proof of great stupidity or great cowardice, or both, to expect tyrants to save mankind from tyrants. Especially when the only thing one have the balls to do as an alleged political reaction today, is to still participate in their ludicrous left-right charade. Today that is like choosing if one wants to be pushed off the cliff edge with the banking-families right hand or left hand.

“Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.”

Dr Martin Luther King Jr

So, the answer to the question in the title of this article is simply: Because, the still free people of the world, don’t unite, organise and demand it strongly enough!

Consequently, the most crucial act of resistance today is the united, determined and well-organised act that will force International Justice to react strongly against the global Hydra of Mammon’s looters, occupiers and war-lords,.. and finally hold them to account for their repeated and extremely serious crimes against humanity.

The puppeteers to prison!

The banking-families Hydra is flying high, far too high and its heads are playing gods using Icaros wings, and even now when these wings are scorched and they are constantly losing power (fewer and fewer believe in their fairy tales), they refuse to realize that the wings are only from wax and removable, and that they in fact can not actually fly without them. The Hydra has during long time learned to act as if it is beyond indictment and above the law but it forgets that the sun melts wax.

artworks-000038036146-5a9gr1-original

Blinded by arrogance and pride, they can’t see their fall coming more than Icaros could, and that is the ultimate proof of not only their blindness but also their simplistic minds. Mankind need to, in its social character and its common approach to life, collectively find Daedalus* (Icaros fathers) balance between ‘flying too high and too low’. Balance between greed and need so to say. The balance can not be restored on the collective level, when the disturbances has become norms, if humanity and society itself doesn’t treat its imbalances with relevance and unity. Balance comes with truth, self-observation, knowledge of microcosmos and macrocosmos and the genuine will to respect the natural principles that upholds life. The beginning of such treatment of the imbalance is to accurately and effectively deal with the worst disturbances and its causes. It means to apply strict legal sanctions and to establish independent and constitutionally protected practical, legal safeguards that protects the fundamental democratic principles and the citizens from power abuse.

Humanity must, except demanding very high prison sentences also demand the annexation of all of their fortunes, in order to compensate at least parts of the unmeasurable damages they have caused mankind, as well as the deprivation of all their public functions, social-economic influence and civil rights (exactly as was done in the Athenian dawn of Democracy). They and all their alike, their ‘servants’, their ‘lapdogs’ and ‘hangarounds’ cannot be allowed anymore to have any influence on either the public or the private influential sectors. Humanity and its societies must once and for all mark and set an example by showing that one risk losing everything, just everything, except food, water and shelter, if one pleases to expose whole societies and humanity to a substantial and fatal danger. These penalties are fully in line with the original legal and practical aspects of democracy.

We must united, incessantly and very loudly and officially ask our legal authorities: Why aren’t the top banking families ‘heads of families’, the directors, the chairmen and boards, the executives, the ministers, the agents and the commanders of their corporations, organizations, and institutions, being brought to justice? It stands very clear today, through whole ‘libraries of evidence’, who in fact are putting the whole world and mankind in a very critical position once again.

In the collective conscience of mankind they are seriously accused:

  • to have achieved their power and created their wealth through frauds, theft, the manipulation of public wealth, elected officials, whole societies and through crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide.
  • to intentionally and in a predetermined manner  have created very serious problems, waited for the carefully evoked reactions  and then presented their own desired solutions.
  • to have manipulated markets, governments, courts, nations, societies, police forces, armies and continents through covert military and paramilitary operations, propaganda, extortion, murder, threats and terror.
  • to through fraud, lies and deceit deliberately have caused economic crisis, geo-political crisis, wars, civil wars, revolutions, dictatorships and to always have financed both sides in big conflicts so that they wouldn’t end before the desired geo-strategic, political and socioeconomic goals has been achieved.

Over 100 million people died just in the 20th century in wars and armed conflicts, caused, provoked and triggered by them and their governments, corporations, organizations and institutions.

Something essential to keep in mind here is that the Law in a Democracy (the Greek form) is meant to express the common morality and ethos of the people, and not to defend the selfish desires and the crimes of a financial, political or clerical elite (the Roman form). We must therefore loudly ask: When is International Justice going to react in accordance with these, by mankind, widely supported accusations?

Of course this will not happen without a very strong pressure from the peoples. The absolute first thing the western citizens and the democratic forces need to organise around now, is the official demand to their national Supreme Courts, Constitutional Committees and the International Criminal Court, to hold the top criminals from these banking families and their organizations to account for high-treason, crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide. What credibility does otherwise people’s democratic struggles really have? If the struggling people doesn’t show also in practice, that they consider these men and women as highly dangerous to human societies and to humanity, why should Justice bother, some might argue?

Apparently, the currently very tired and rather deaf International Justice and its judges and prosecutors must be reminded today what the actual purpose with it was in the first place. It must be ‘told to’ do what it was formed to do, and to not succumb to extortion and threats or expected class obligations. If they can’t resist or avoid such submission, they shouldn’t hold their positions for a minute more, they should step down and leave their places to more courageous and irrepressible “guardians of the law”. Humanity must very strongly demand this now from International Justice by, except the massive citizens law suits, also relocate the large protests outside their headquarters and courts instead of outside parliaments (that really don’t have any particular power today).

International Justice was established primarily to protect peoples, nations and humanity from oppression and tyranny by defending the basic human and civil rights and the peoples rights to resist tyranny and to defend national and international democracy and freedom. Well, it doesn’t! If it did, we would have seen it and felt it over the last four years when mankind in fact has shown more than ever before through massive protests against injustice, dictatorial political decisions and neo-colonial economic solutions, that it want true justice. It would have responded and reacted to the very justified massive reactions and protests against neo-liberal privatizations and the demolition of human and civil rights. Actually they did in fact, but I don’t mean a respond which is first of all police violence and repressive actions and policies against the victims, but a respond with the existing legal tools against the perpetrators.

To defend mankind now means to immediately and through existing International Law and adequate practical mechanisms (their arrests and prosecutions), in a clear and firm way show these banking families and their allies that peoples, nations, cultures cannot be extorted, threatened and terrorized by a few banking families without them being severely and relevantly punished for it. Does these judges and prosecutors exist at all, in any other form than as an endangered species, I wonder, and are we just expecting courage, righteousness and decency from where only cowardice, unrighteousness and indecency exists?

*Daedalos was a craftsman, considered the inventor of carpentry, who built the labyrinth for Minos, king of Crete. Minos imprisoned him and his son Icaros, but they escaped using wings that Daedalos made and fastened with wax. Icaros, however, flew too near the sun and was killed.

This ‘myth-historic’ (mix of mythology and history) story explain Man’s fall into the abyss of egoism and narcissism and Man’s ability to surmount these self-destructive characteristics through balance and moderation.

Israel atrocities in Gaza: “We must impose sanctions,” says British MP

Gerald Kaufman“If the spineless Obama will not do it, we must do it – even unilaterally”

By Stuart Littlewood

I’d like to share, especially with American readers, a great moment in the British parliament on 5 February when the MP for Gorton, Manchester, Sir Gerald Kaufman rose to speak in a debate on the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Here is what he said word for word so that you get the full flavour:

I once led a delegation of 60 parliamentarians from 13 European parliaments to Gaza. I could no longer do that today because Gaza is practically inaccessible. The Israelis try to lay the responsibility on the Egyptians, but although the Egyptians’ closing of the tunnels has caused great hardship, it is the Israelis who have imposed the blockade and are the occupying power. The culpability of the Israelis was demonstrated in the report to the UN by Richard Goldstone following Operation Cast Lead. After his report, he was harassed by Jewish organizations. At the end of a meeting I had with him in New York, his wife said to me, “It is good to meet another self-hating Jew.”

Again and again, Israel seeks to justify the vile injustices that it imposes on the people of Gaza and the West Bank on the grounds of the holocaust. Last week, we commemorated the holocaust; 1.7 million Palestinians in Gaza are being penalized with that as the justification. That is unacceptable.

Go to Tel Aviv, as I did not long ago, and watch them sitting complacently outside their pavement cafés. They do not give a damn about their fellow human beings perhaps half an hour away.  (Gerald Kaufman, British MP)

The statistics are appalling. There is fresh water for a few hours every five days. Fishing boats are not allowed to go out – in any case, what is the point, because the waters are so filthy that no fish they catch can be eaten? The Israelis are victimizing the children above all. Half the population of this country is under the voting age. What is being done to those children – the lack of nutrition – is damaging not only their bodies and brains; it will go on for generation after generation.

It is totally unacceptable that the Israelis should behave in such a way, but they do not care. Go to Tel Aviv, as I did not long ago, and watch them sitting complacently outside their pavement cafés. They do not give a damn about their fellow human beings perhaps half an hour away. The right hon. member for Banbury (Sir Tony Baldry) quoted the prime minister as saying that Gaza is a prison camp. It is all very well for him to say that, as he did, in Turkey – he was visiting a Muslim country – but what is he doing about it? Nothing, nothing, nothing!

The time when we could condemn and think that that was enough has long passed. The Israelis do not care about condemnation. They are self-righteous and complacent. We must now take action against them. We must impose sanctions. If the spineless Obama will not do it, we must do it – even unilaterally. We must press the European community for it to be done. These people cannot be persuaded. We cannot appeal to their better nature when they do not have one. It is all very well saying, “Wicked, wicked Hamas.” Hamas is dreadful. I have met people from Hamas, but nothing it has done justifies punishing children, women and the sick as the Israelis are doing now. They must be stopped.

As has been pointed out, there is a time limit for what we are talking about. The idea that things can go on, while we wait for a two-state solution, is gone. Sooner or later, the Palestinians will say, “We are dying anyhow, so let us die for something.” Let us stop that: I do not want a war. I do not want violent action, but the action that the international community takes must be imposed, otherwise hell will break loose.

Sir Gerald is one of the very few heroic figures in British politics. His family suffered horribly during the holocaust. After the Israelis’ Operation Cast Lead against Gaza in 2008/09 in which they slaughtered 1,400, mostly civilians and including hundreds of children, he told the House of Commons: “My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town. A German soldier shot her dead in her bed. My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza.”

“My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town. A German soldier shot her dead in her bed. My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza.” (Gerald Kaufman, British MP)

He doesn’t mince words; he knows the Israeli regime for what it really is. “They’re not simply war criminals, they’re fools”.  He calls Israel itself a “pariah state”.

In April 2002, during Israel’s controversial military operation codenamed Defensive Shield, Kaufman said in the Commons, “It is time to remind Sharon that the Star of David belongs to all Jews, not to his repulsive government. His actions are staining the Star of David with blood.”

He also compared Hamas in Gaza to the Jewish resistance during World War II:

The spokeswoman for the Israeli army, Major Leibovich, was asked about the Israeli killing of, at that time, 800 Palestinians. The total is now 1,000. She replied instantly that “500 of them were militants”. That was the reply of a Nazi. I suppose the Jews fighting for their lives in the Warsaw ghetto could have been dismissed as militants.

As for Hamas, he describes them as “a deeply nasty organization, but it was democratically elected, and it is the only game in town. The boycotting of Hamas, including by our government, has been a culpable error, from which dreadful consequences have followed.” He pointed out that the Irgun (infamously responsible for the bombing in 1946 of the King David Hotel, headquarters of the British Mandate government, murdering 91, and the Deir Yassin massacre in 1948) were terrorists, and that “Israel was born out of Jewish terrorism”.

There’s an interesting footnote on Wikipedia which says: “In 2010, the Supreme Court of Israel rejected a petition by the newspaper Haaretz for the declassification of documents, reports and photographs concerning the Deir Yassin massacre. The court cited the possible damage to Israel’s foreign relations…”

The US Congress is stuffed to the gunwales with Jews and Zionist stooges and hirelings. How is it that they are so taken in, or cowed, by the lie machine that few, if any, have the balls or integrity to see the Israeli regime, like Kaufman, for what it is. If they did – and acted accordingly – there would be far less grief around the world.

Sadly, there are big profits to be made from strife and grief.

STOP NOW THE HYDROLYSIS OF WARFARE CHEMICALS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN

(STOP NOW THE HYDROLYSIS OF WARFARE CHEMICALS)

sign the petition

On April 27 2014, it was scheduled to start the destruction of 100 tonnes of chemical weapons of the 1400 tonnes that were sold to Syria by the War Industries. At the moment it is posponed… The decommissioning process, with the method of hydrolysis, is scheduled to take place in international waters between Crete (Greece), Libya, Italy and Malta, under the auspices of the UN, NATO and the European Union. This dangerous experiment will occur for the first time at sea, as the candidate countries, Albania, Belgium, Norway, etc., refused the destruction of these weapons on their territory, despite the strong countervailing benefits that they were offered.

The transport and destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons in the Mediterranean Sea violates the limitations laid down by the United Nations “Convention on the Law of the Sea” (UNCLOS 1982;http://www.un.org/depts/los/convention_agreements/texts/unclos/unclos_e.pdf) and the “London Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter” (LC 1972; http://www.gc.noaa.gov/documents/gcil_lc.pdf), which have been adopted to protect the marine environment and to set up criteria for the transportation and dumping of toxic waste.

Scientists from Greece and Israel have already expressed serious concerns over the effectiveness of the method of hydrolysis to neutralise chemicals, such as sarin, mustard gas and VX (nerve gas), while the residues of this process are toxic waste. The consequences will be devastating for the marine and coastal ecosystems, for the people and the economy, as the Mediterranean is a closed sea with very slow water-renewal. Such an action does not respect the local communities of the Mediterranean, disregards the international treaties, and places at risk the highly sensitive ecosystems and marine species that live in the area.

The place and the way chosen for the destruction of the chemical weapons reveals once again the role that is determined for the Global South by the powerful capitalist economies and their local partners. This area has been selected to maintain the Warfare Economy through artificial economic and military conflicts; as the dumping site for the hazardous wastes of “development”; as a place where life has no value.

We do not accept the role they have assigned for us.

NO GEOPOLITICAL GAMES ON THE MEDITERRANEAN PEOPLE’S EXPENSE

A REVOLTING PROOF OF THE CURRENT EU HYPOCRISY – “Between Freedom and Hate – The Lines Drawn by the ECHR” International Conference on the Prevention of Genocides

It is very appropriate that Mr Jagland gave this speech on 1 April, because this speech is truly a mighty celebration to hypocrisy, double standards and lies. It is also a revolting proof of the hideous, structural aphasia towards common sense, true righteousness and simple decency that this type of professionally “good people” seem to have.

The following speech must have been written for Mr Jagland by J.K Rowling herself. It is namely a very good fairy tale and unfortunately an excellent example of the very disturbing but still massive moral canyon between words and actions in this EU. It is actually right to even see it as an adult fairy tale due to its clear “political-pornographic” character.

With the very obvious US ad EU supported rise of nazi and fascist movement’s and parties in Europe, through their government’s economic and political neo-liberal strategies, their Goebbelian propaganda industry that still calls itself news-media and through their intelligence service’s dark and covert operations, in which racial, social and political violence are consciously being encouraged, promoted and provoked, this speech can’t be considered as anything else than a bizarre April fools joke. This is demagogy, goodwill-hunting. political pornography and deceiving, diplomatic “pole-dancing” on a very revolting level. It is humiliating to any human being with self respect who is aware of the, nowadays, open anti-democratic, totalitarian aims of this EU, to hear Mr Jagland talk and act as if he was the advocate of Peace and Righteousness in times when nazism has seized power in Ukraine by the EU- and US-promoted coup and when EU itself is taking part in war crimes, genocide and ethnic cleansing on a number of places around the world. EU have together with US turned against not only other parts of the world but also against a whole region (the south) of its own body and particularly against one of its own member states. Its neo-colonial, bankster protecting trends have turned an alleged debt crisis in Greece into a humanitarian crisis, in which clear ‘genocidal’ and ‘crimes against humanity’ policies can be detected. Mr Jagland did not mention the ongoing Greek tragedy or the Ukranian tragedy on 1 April and he is therefore just another “hypnotizer” putting the masses to sleep and by doing that he is insulting every sober citizens intelligence within this European “gulag” they still call a union.

Wouldn’t at least a comment on the still commonly published ‘hate-speeches’ and the ‘hate-articles’ about “Greeks” from the whole European media but mainly the German, English, Eastern European and Scandinavian media have been suitable to mention in such a speech, now when the population of Greece has gone from 11 millions in 2010 to 10 millions in 2014 and the average life-span has decreased with 15 years in the last 4 years?

I, as a Greek, a European citizen and as a free human, advice Mr Jagland to stand up for what these historic times, sheer common sense and the vast majority of the thinking citizens of Europe expects from him or anyone in his position, or to step down and leave his place to a more curageous Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Someone with integrity and self-respect enough to defend the real aims of the Article for Human Rights, one who dares to express the real European issues today and not just cowardly go along with the rise of nazi-policies while mumbling some nonsense mantras about tolerance,  human rights and freedom of speech. All this without a word about the obvious abuse of all democratic rights, trhe constitutions and even European law itself, in todays EU

I have inserted my “comments” to this rediculous diplomatic “pole-dance” as they occurred in my mind when I first read through this qualified nonsense. AV is short for “Athenianvoice”

Parliamentary Assembly Session April 2011Session de l'Assemblée parlementaire avril 2011

Dear Minister Reynders,
Lady Ashton,
Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon,
Chairman Dlamini-Zuma,
Your Excellencies and Distinguished Guests,

It is a privilege to be able to address you today.

Raphael Lemkin, the lawyer and Holocaust survivor once said: “It takes centuries and sometimes thousands of years to create a national culture, but genocide can destroy a culture instantly, like a fire can destroy a building in an hour.”

AV: Greece is over 6000 years old and EU have since 2010 started to consciously kill off its people and it is forcing them to migrate – 11 millions in 2010 and 10 millions in 2014.

We must therefore make sure the “never again” becomes an unshakable reality and not just an honourable declaration.

AV: Therefore your Norweigan Nobel-commitee decided to give the worst warmongers on the planet, such as Obama and your own employer, EU the Peace-price.

The danger is always there.

AV: Yeah, and the danger is especially present when nazis are rising to power under the support of EU and USA and a Goebellian propaganda machinery which is producing false reports and manufacturing fake NGO-videos in order to create consent and hide facts.

It is especially present in times of economic hardship such as the present.

AV: Who have engineered and launched that economic hardship in the first place?

Hatred is an essential prerequisite for genocide.

AV: So therefore the EU-media made sure to, over and over again, repeat obnoxious lies about us Greeks before introducing its genocidal policies against us. This did in fact spread hatred towards Greeks from certain central- and northern European folk groups and cultures. The same goes for Arabs (since decades) and now it is obviously time to defame the Russians. Anyone who dares to criticize and oppose EU and US policies in other words, or anyone that these two neo-colonial looting powers need to steal the land and the natural resources from.

This is why the Council of Europe is so committed to stamping out hate speech and tackling intolerance whilst at the same time defending free speech.

AV: You should speak to the publisher of, for example, the German magazine FOCUS or to Scheuble, Rehn, Barrosso, Rompay, Juncker and Merkel about this as well as all the rest of the bankster-elites runner boys and girls!

The Council of Europe was set up in the aftermath of World War II and very much in response to the horrors of the Holocaust.

To this day, the European Court of Human Rights continues to play a crucial role in condemning public expressions of anti-Semitism, racism and discrimination against minorities – which are contrary to the European Convention of Human Rights.

AV: Why is islamofobia not treated as anti-semitism, when it actually is exactly that and why do you, a well educated person, choose to insinuate that only Jews are semitic people? Otherwise you would condemn also the anti-semitism expressed against Arabs.

It would be highly appropriate to also add anti-hellenism and anti-mankind activities to this list, because those two in particular are hidden behind the whole neo-liberal agenda and indeed very much practiced and not only over the last few years. relevant article: Hellenism is in danger, humanity is in danger

Distinguished guests,

One of the most important questions faced by the Court is to assess the line between freedom of expression and hate speech or to determine the limits of freedom of expression.

AV: Oh. so that is why islamofobia and anti-semitism is treated so completely and entirely different from eachother by the entire European and western media?

It is one of the key challenges of our time.

It is a difficult question.

AV: Not to decent and righteous people! Expressed words that are ment to harm are easy to detect for most, but  if the ECHR have difficulties to tell the difference there are fields of science and available expertice that Mr Jagland have chosen to ignore here. The question faced by the Court is not legal but behavioral in its core so the Court should consult the top behavioural and communication experts to draw these lines (ex. prof Marshall Rosenberg)

Take the case of Bingöl v. Turkey. The applicant, a politician, was convicted for a speech dealing with the history of the Kurdish people which contained vigorous criticism of the policies of the Turkish state.

He was convicted for having incited hatred.

But the Strasbourg Court found there had been no incitement to hatred because even if the speech had a hostile connotation, it did not incite violence or hatred. Moreover, it the speech was given in the context of a debate on a question of legitimate public interest.

AV: Does Julian Assange and Edward Snowden have freedom of speech and are the western media NOT silencing down the truth and completely ignoring critical voices against neo-liberalism and the neo-colonial anti-democratic aims of US and EU?

Attacks on persons through defamation, libel or incitement to discrimination may also justify state interventions to protect against hate speech.

AV: Isn’t the humiliating and isulting lies in western media about Greeks defamation or discriminating? Isn’t generalizing a whole people in order to purposly expose a whole people to hatred and hate violence defamation and efforts to spread hatred (Greeks in Germany, Holland and Denmark have been attacked and in a few cases got their businesses burnt)?

Another challenge for several member States is to draw the line between blasphemy and legitimate criticism of religion.

So where – and how – does the European Court of Human Rights draw the line?

AV: Obviously by waiting for orders and policy advices from the Bilderberg group and from other non-elected but powerful clubs of ruthless ‘puppeteers’.

Before accepting a certain restriction, the Court will consider a variety of factors.

The most important issue is whether a statement incites racial or ethnic hatred and second, whether it incites violence.

Additional factors are also considered.

Many are linked to the circumstances in which the speech was made and its content. For example, if the speech was made with bad intent or delivered at a particularly sensitive moment.

AV: What if it is obvious that Mrs Merkels, Mr Scheubles, Mr Rhens and Mr Junckers insulting speeches was not only about a simple ‘bad intent’ but in fact it was a well planned public defaming, consent-shaping propaganda in order to prepare the opening for a proper economic, social, political, cultural and humanitarian attack on the Greek society and nation?

The Council of Europe is currently developing a new curriculum to guide judges and prosecutors when dealing with cases related to hate speech.

Dear Friends,

As the Court emphasized back in 1976, freedom of expression constitutes the right to “offend, shock or disturb.”

The Court made it clear that without this right it would be impossible to have a democratic society.

That being so, freedom of expression cannot be unlimited.

There are times when some forms of expression have to be prevented.

One such example is Holocaust denial.

AV: Why is not the continuous and ongoing war crimes and crimes against humanity that are committed against the Palestinian people and against Arabs in general such examples?

The Court has made clear that the negation of the Holocaust is one of the most serious forms of racial defamation and an incitement to hatred.

AV: And what is the negation of the ongoing Palestinian genocide or the Holocaust on Africans, Arabs, Native Americans and Asians?

There are many other examples.

Take the recent German case of Hizb Ut-Tahrir and Others from 2012.

This case concerned the prohibition of the activities of an Islamic association calling for the violent destruction of the state of Israel and for the killing of its inhabitants through suicide attacks against civilians.

AV: But for Knesset to keep on not just threatening but actually killing off Palestinians like stray dogs (as the settlers call them) and for the western media to look the other way at the same time is obviously completely fine.

The Court found that the applicant exercised his rights for purposes which were clearly contrary to the values of the Convention.

Or think back to a similar case of the Belgian parliamentarian and chairman of a nationalistic political party who distributed election leaflets bearing slogans such as “Stand up against the Islamification of Belgium” and “Send non-European job-seekers home.”

The applicant was convicted of incitement to racial discrimination and sentenced to community service and disqualified from holding parliamentary office for ten years.

AV: Why not for life? Will he change his character and basic mental state in ten years?

The Court found that these sanctions were justified.

Because the leaflets could have provoked feelings of distrust and even hatred towards foreigners.

When dealing with hate speech one of the most dangerous mistakes one can make is to think that they are just words.

AV: So what about among many others in mainly central and north Europe, the German magazine FOCUS and its general accusation-crusade against not only Greeks in Greece but against Greeks anywhere? It became OK for the German and the EU officials to talk about “Greeks” in general when explaining the crisis.

Let us never forget that genocide does not happen at the blink of an eye.

The minds of people have to be perverted to such a degree that it becomes the norm to deny the very right to existence to entire groups of the population.

AV: So what about the European insulting, propaganda and lies against Greeks that the German and the EU leaders launched through the European media?

We saw this in Nazi Germany.

We saw this in Srebrenica.

AV: But you choose to NOT see what goes on now in Athens and the rest of Greece or in Ukraine where EU has taken an active supportive role for the illegal nazi government and its massacring hordes.

And, of course, we saw this in Rwanda twenty years ago.

AV: Was the Belgian prime minister or any official from the Belgian embassy ever held to account for that hideous Belgian-promoted genocide?

These tragedies demonstrated that hate speech and incitement to violence against a specific group of people is instrumental to creating an environment in which genocide can take place.

AV: Was it not Belgian interests and the EU-supported neo-colonial ‘programs’ that worked very hard to pour “gazoline” on the fire and who had a major role in this and who consciously took part in provoking and establishing that hatred?

In Rwanda, the killers often carried a weapon in one hand and a transistor radio tuned to a Hutu extremist radio station, in the other.

AV: And the millions of machetes used to slay almost one million humans in less than 11 weeks where imported by Europeans and the silence about this was complete in western main stream media.

The radio station broadcast the names, addresses and license plate numbers of Tutsi and moderate Hutu who were marked for extermination.

AV: And the entire western community and very much so the EU looked the other way and on the 10-year memorial day not a single western leader éxcept the Belgian prime minister where present in order to show respect to more than one million victims in three months… As a revolting additional assurance of the arrogance of the western leaders towards this genocide no one in the west held any silent minute for these people (compare with the global silent two minutes imposed by all western leaders on their people for 3 000 dead in N.Y on 9/11, 2001).

Hate speech, even without a clear call to violence, is extremely dangerous.

AV: So why are US and EU continuing to direct flaming, diplomatic hate speeches towards whole nations and whole people and why are they supporting nazist and fascist organizations and parties that use hate speeches as vulgar political tools?

It involves discrimination and even dehumanization, often of vulnerable groups in society.

That is why we must never shy away from our responsibility to combat hate speech.

AV: Sure, but in the name of righteousness, justice and common decency,.. deal with hate speeches against Greeks, Arabs, Africans and Asians NOW and in the same way you treat hate speeches against Jews and we will ALL feel very much safer and you will be at least a little bit more trustworthy.

Distinguished guests,

This sad anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda reminds us that to make “never again” a reality we need effective international instruments and mechanisms.

AV: A good way to make “never again ” a reality would be to make the effort to hold to account ALL the true instigators and perpetrators of hatred equally from whatever religious or ideological sewer they happen to pop up from, western or eastern, christian or jewish or muslim. But unfortunatelly the true western violence instigators and atrocity provokers have never been held to account ever again since the Nürnberg-trials. The western establishment with your institution as their temple of trustworthyness, have always reacted as if these international instruments and mechanisms are there just to protect Jews and white Americans and Europeans but never ever Arabs, Africans, Native Americans or Asians unless they first sign horrendous slave contracts and criminal deals with western banks and businesses.

But above all we need political will and the courage to act.

AV: And you mean that you have that??

Let me finish with the words of Pierre Henri Teitgen, one of the founding fathers of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Speaking in 1949, a few years after the horrors of the Second World War, Teitgen said the following:

“Evil operates cunningly. One by one, freedoms are suppressed, in one sphere after another. Public opinion and the entire national conscience is asphyxiated … It is necessary to intervene before it is too late. A conscience must exist somewhere which will sound the alarm….”

AV: The entire awake and aware European population is saying these words today, so why do you fail to hear it today and why don’t you intervene in Ukraine and against the nazification of Europe?

The Council of Europe will always be that conscience.

AV: Sorry to be the one to tell you, but when nazism is rising to power in Europe and when a silent genocide is being committed by the EU against the Greeks, that conscience has long ago mutated into a disgraceful and barbaric support and assistance to the cruelest mass murderers of them all.

Thank you.

AV: zzzZZZzzz

Guardian: Few listened to a young Greek woman before she died. Will we listen now?

imagesKJFBMODIOn Wednesday, a coach carrying a group of young students, travelling along a Greek motorway near Malgara, collided with a truck. Many were injured, two women died. Angeliki Granitsa, 21, and Irini Triantafyllou, 23, two smart, involved young people were taken from their families and friends. The brighter the candle, the thicker the darkness that follows.

Irini (which, in Greek, means “peace”) wrote an essay about the situation in Greece when she was 18 – just before the crisis hit properly – which appeared in a local paper. I have translated an abridged version of her piece. Few listened while she was alive. Will we listen now?

“My dreams are the basis of my revolution. So, allow me to dream. In any case, the reality you offer is not very tempting.

“Trapped by exaggerated demands, unnatural ambition and consumerism, you have forgotten the value and power of a human touch, a word of praise, a chat with a mate. When was the last time you really communicated with a friend? When was the last time you spoke, without shame, about your problems?

“You have become introverted, in order to protect yourselves from others’ troubles. Because you have so many of your own, you cannot take more weight. You have become lonely people looking for electronic friendship. Your schedule consists of work and solitude on weekdays; then forcing yourself into superficial pleasure on a Saturday. You strive to improve your external appearance in gyms and health farms, then undo your work by eating and drinking excessively. You feel little responsibility or solidarity toward friends and family. You reduce your political activity only to that which benefits you.

“And in the midst of this confusion you have the time – and nerve – to criticise us. In your eyes, we are the selfish, lazy, thoughtless generation. In your eyes, we are ignorant of history and devoid of ideals. In your eyes, we do not show proper respect for national holidays and do not understand your revolutionary past. We are the ill-fated ‘tomorrow’ of this country, in the care of which you fear to hand over the world. (Since when could anyone hand over or receive total chaos?)

“So, while you crown yourselves with the libellous congratulations of your past, allow me to dream.

“I dream of neighbourhoods with narrow streets and warm people. Joy and sorrow and hands that embrace you and make the smallest things seem large and the largest things seem small. I dream of educating myself, ‘becoming a person’ like my grandmother says; educating myself so I can open my mind and open my soul’s eyes and look at the world and people through them.

“I dream of exercising my chosen profession on merit, without having to kiss dirty hands or beg politicians. I dream of having my own family and passing to them the principles and values that my parents gave me.

“I dream of having around me people who love me and whom I love freely and by choice.

“I dream of not being ashamed to be a citizen, not bowing to anyone, loving beauty easily and living without suspicion.

“I dream of using language to call a spade a spade, rather than hide behind my words.

“I dream of using those co-ordinates to create my very own world, which will be both tiny and great. I have closed my ears to accusation and sympathy, to your pretend revolutions. And I work – I work to make my dreams a reality.

“My revolution has begun … Can you hear it?”
